Coast to Coast 2010

This was my first Coast 2 Coast run that is held towards the end of every season.  This weekend trip is to give members a chance to get away (really its for those who don’t like camping!)

So on Saturday 9th October 2010 myself and Jackie set off to meet the southern group at the Hartlepool Marina, here we would meet up with the northern group who were setting off from Tesco’s South Shields

So around 10:30 we all gathered for a group picture and then set off with Will our centre rep leading the way, he had previously recce the route and had chosen some cracking roads ahead for us

Our route would take us on the B roads towards Richmond where we would meet up with Rob Milne and also have a quick toilet, brew and ciggie break.

Then it was onwards again, using B roads we were soon on the B6160, which would take us to Kettlewell to meet up with Steve and Janet from centre 6.  This was also our planned stop for lunch

Back on the road we made our last scheduled stop at Skipton for fuel and then back on the road to Morcambe.  We did have a group split when some members decided that Will had got us lost (of course he didn’t and I had faith in him!)

Once everyone was booked into their rooms it was off to the bar and out to look for somewhere to eat.  Finding somewhere to eat was becoming a problem, the locals didn’t seem to have a clue and we ended up walking around in circles.  Finally we decided to split up and meet back at the hotel bar.  A group of us headed off to the chippy and the hotel allowed us to eat the food in the bar

A goodnights sleep was followed by an early start and a fantastic breakfast, followed by a group photo before heading off towards the lakes, this time the route was chosen by Keith

The plan was to stop off for another brew stop before the group split in 2.  one half was heading for the Hardnott pass while the other group took a more sedate route to Ambleside where both groups would meet up before heading home

The plan went accordingly and having the survived Hardnott Pass I was happy to rejoin the group and enjoy a nice leisurely run home

I’m already looking forward to next years Coast 2 Coast
