Egg run 2010
On a very bright 4th April 2010. I set off to meet up with Keith, Harry, Kev and Bob.
We were taking part in the Durham Police annual Egg Run. This was my first egg run as previously I was always busy around the easter period. The others had met at Durham services and rode to the meeting point just outside Durham (they used the park and ride for the first time). With me coming from the north I decided that I would meet them at the park and ride. I was shocked when I saw how many bikes were parked up, there must have been close on a 1000 bikes. 10 minutes later riding round the car park I spotted Keith waving his arms up and down. We had time for a quick photo pose and a brew before setting off.

The run was controlled and marshalled by the Durham police. We soon had a bit of a juggle to get in line to leave the car park to head towards Darlington hospital to deliver our easter eggs. With hundreds of bikers all trying to get out we ended up being staggered. I was keen to try and catch Bob because I was trying out my new video camera, so after a little bit of overtaking I caught up with Bob and Keith and settled in behind them. The video turned out to be unsuitable, too much vibrations from the mirror mount I had been working on (back to the drawing board !)

We arrived at Darlington hospital a hour later. The ride was excellent and the marshals did a fantastic job of allowing the convoy of bikes to travel as one big group.

The convoy was still coming in 10 minutes after we arrived. So we had time for a quick brew and a wander round as the easter eggs were delivered.

This guy really travelled in style !
The return journey took us back to Durham. So while people stretched their legs and got yet another brew we decided to have a walk round the car park and see if we could spot any other viragos (we did spot a couple and handed out our club cards to them).
Afterwards we decided to go for a club run out to Woolsingham for a quick bite to eat.
In all it was a fantastic experience and I will certainly keep my diary free for next years Easter Egg Run.
